What is it?

Bursa are fluid filled sacs which act as cushions at the joints in our body. The purpose of bursa is to prevent rubbing and friction between the bones and tissues inside your body. Bursitis is inflammation of the bursa sack often caused by repetitive strain injury or other health conditions, including obesity. Bursitis is commonly seen in the shoulders, knees, hip and feet.


Bursitis is generally caused by repetitive strain of a specific action or type of continuous pressure applied to a specific area of the body where bursa is commonly found.

  • Obesity
  • Repetitive movements
  • Constant pressure applied to specific area of the body

Treatment options:

Rest is required to help bursitis, as well as discontinuation of the repetitive actions causing the problem.
